ADMISSIONS

The next start date is:

August 22nd, 2016

There are 2 opportunities to begin the program each year. For our annual academic calendar and application deadline information, please contact an Admissions Counselor at online.coe@email.arizona.edu.

Requirements, MA in Special Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field is required in most cases. If you have an unrelated academic background, you may be considered if you are currently working with persons with disabilities.

Grade point average of 3.0 or higher (Calculated from the final 60 units of undergraduate coursework)

Completion of Foundations of Special Education and Rehabilitation (SERP 400/500) or its equivalent course in an approved undergraduate or graduate program is a prerequisite. If you’d like to propose an equivalent course, it must be reviewed and approved by DPS faculty. If no equivalent course has been completed, it may be taken online at the UA early in the student’s program. These units will not count towards earning the MA in Special Education.

GRE scores ARE NOT required for admission.

The program does not provide teacher certification.

Note: The program’s coursework will require access to classrooms or other environments such as group homes or behavioral health sites so that you can work directly with children/adults with disabilities.
